While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is busy attempting to build a committee to investigate the January 6, 2021 Capitol Riot the rest of the country is far more interested in Congress investigating the 574 violent Black Lives Matter riots of 2020 resulting in 2,000 police officers injured in the line of duty.
A new telephone and online survey of likely voters conducted by Rasmussen survey and funded by the National Police Association finds that 66% of Likely U.S. Voters think Congress should investigate the violent 2020 BLM protests verses 21% that don’t think Congress should investigate them.
The overwhelming support of a Congressional investigation into the BLM riots of 2020 where police were stripped of authority, marginalized, accused of being systemic racists, and defunded is across party lines, gender, age groups and race.
According to the survey results:
Racial groups: Sixty-seven percent (67%) of whites, 64% of black voters, 66% of Hispanics and 62% of other minorities think Congress should investigate the 2020 riots in U.S. cities.
Political Affiliation: Seventy-five percent (75%) of Republicans, 60% of Democrats and 63% of voters not affiliated with either major party say Congress should investigate last year’s violent protests.
The 574 BLM riots of 2020 causing police injury and millions of dollars in damage across major cities in the US have disappeared from the mainstream news but not the minds of the American people. The response of both local and national elected officials was nothing shy of disgraceful.
“When the mayors of cities in which violent riots took place in 2020 refused to let police immediately stop the crimes taking place, it sent a message to violent criminals across the nation that crimes will be allowed and criminals won’t be touched,” according to the NPA.
“Many elected officials of both parties and at all levels followed up, not by apologizing to their citizens for failing to uphold the law, but by accusing police officers of systemic racism, being in need of reform, reimagining and defunding” said Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith (Ret), spokesperson for the National Police Association.
Crime rates have jumped through the roof in these cities yet nobody seems to want to address any of the issues other than touting draconian gun control measures.
Instead of focusing on the real issues in America where criminals are glorified over race, Speaker Pelosi and her minions are investing their time and resources in a witch hunt over the January 6 Capitol riot where they were personally at risk. Americans are not opposed to the investigation but it certainly does not weigh as high on their minds.
Only 49% of Likely Voters believe that Congress should investigate the Capitol riot with 42% believing there should not be an investigation and 9% are unsure.
The survey also reflects American’s support of the police and desire to have all people who commit crimes prosecuted.
Should participants in the 2020 BLM rioting and looting be prosecuted: 63% of likely voters say yes. Additionally, 60% of these Likely Voters also think those arrested for the Capitol riot on Jan 6 should be prosecuted.
Americans are very concerned about their safety and disagree vehemently with policies that do not prosecute crime: 68% of Likely Voters believe that “quality of life” crimes will increase with the refusal of DA’s across the country refusing to prosecute shoplifting, trespassing, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and other “quality of life” crimes.
It is time for our elected leaders to stop grandstanding and start doing their jobs!
